WeChat Official Account
Connect a WeChat Official Account / Service Account in the desktop client to publish news articles from Channels. Follow the steps in order.
What you need
| Item | Notes |
|---|---|
| Desktop client | Installed and signed in |
| Official / Service Account | Personal WeChat chat accounts are not supported |
| Admin access | You can open mp.weixin.qq.com and view developer settings |
| Server IP | Platform egress IP must be on the Official Account IP whitelist (ask support) |
Step 1: Get AppID and AppSecret
- Sign in to mp.weixin.qq.com.
- Open Settings and Development → Basic configuration (wording may vary).
- Copy AppID.
- View / reset AppSecret and save it securely (often shown only once).
WARNING
Treat AppSecret like a password. Do not share it publicly.
Step 2: Whitelist the platform server IP (required)
- On the same Basic configuration page, open IP whitelist.
- Ask support for the public egress IP of the environment you use (not your PC IP).
- Add it and save. Wait a few minutes before binding.
Without the whitelist, binding often fails with IP / whitelist errors.
Step 3: Bind in the client
- Open the desktop client → Channels.
- Select WeChat.
- Stay on Account authorization.
- Click Bind WeChat Official Account.
- Enter AppID, AppSecret, and optional display name → Confirm.
A connected asset should appear under WeChat. Use refresh if the list is empty.
Step 4: Try publishing (optional)
Open the Post tab on the WeChat channel page, fill the form (cover image is usually required for news), and submit.
FAQ
IP / whitelist errors — Wrong IP, missing whitelist, or changes not active yet.
Invalid AppSecret — Typo, reset secret, or using Open Platform website-app secret instead of the Official Account secret.
Scan-to-authorize? — Not available yet. Binding is AppID / AppSecret only. Third-party platform OAuth is a separate WeChat product track.
