YouTube
Connect a YouTube channel in the desktop client to upload videos and use comments / basic insights from Channels.
What you need
| Item | Notes |
|---|---|
| Desktop client | Installed and signed in |
| Google account | Owns or can manage the YouTube channel |
| Network | Authorization opens the system browser to Google |
As an end user you normally only click Connect YouTube and approve Google scopes. Cloud project setup is handled by the service operator.
Step 1: Confirm the channel
- Open YouTube Studio with the target Google account.
- Create a channel if you do not have one yet.
- Use an account that can upload to that channel.
Step 2: Connect in the client
- Desktop client → Channels → YouTube.
- On Account authorization, click Connect YouTube.
- In the browser, sign in to the correct Google account and allow all requested permissions (especially upload).
- After redirect, return to the client; a YouTube asset should appear (refresh if needed).
Unverified Google app
If Google says the app is unverified or test-only, use an allowlisted test user or ask support whether the environment is published.
Step 3: Try a video post (optional)
- Open the Post tab.
- YouTube accepts video only (not text-only or image-only posts).
- Fill title, description, privacy; thumbnail optional.
- Provide a public video URL or upload locally as the client allows. Large files take time.
Step 4: Comments and insights (optional)
Use the matching tabs to list / reply to comments and view basic metrics when scopes and Google data allow. If comments are disabled on YouTube for a video, enable them in YouTube Studio.
FAQ
No asset after authorize — Browser blocked the link, wrong Google account, or refresh / reconnect needed.
Upload fails — Missing upload scope (reconnect and allow all), invalid media, or empty title.
